Yes it is February, yes one month has passed in 2013, so yes I’m getting to this post awfully late. Things happen. Anyway, I really took my 2012 resolutions to heart. I tried some different Craps strategies, I gave Baccarat a go, and even did my best to get that Royal Flush. Unfortunately, the Royal didn’t work out. More on that later. For now, on to my gambling resolutions for 2013.
Get Back to Blackjack – In 2012 I wanted to try different Craps strategies. I did this to mixed success, and my gambling sessions were much more volatile than before. This year I want to get back to playing Blackjack. I played a little bit earlier this month, and I think its predictability a good compliment for the volatility of Craps.
Play 3 Numbers at Craps – Over 2012, I found that the best Craps strategy for me was to play the pass line with odds and take two come bets with odds. While taking more numbers is great for long rolls, it is a disaster for a short roll. Three numbers seems to be the perfect mix of risk and reward.
Get my First Royal Flush – I’m bringing this one back for 2013. I’m still in the same boat as 2012. I have never hit a Royal. I have never hit one in a casino, I have never hit one playing WinPoker, Ihave never hit one in any medium of any kind. So I’m going for it again, hopefully 2013 will be the lucky year.
I’ll be in Las Vegas in one week for my annual birthday trip. I have already started sharpening my video poker skills to get ready to hit that royal. Have never hit a Royal either – but my wife has – @ MandalayBay 2006 – and a good friend of mine – @ Paris 2007. That guys mom hit twoo that weekend. All .25 VP. ($1K)
Locally a guy I play basketball with hit 3 in one day at an Indian run casino – Ho-Chunk Dells. Your craps strategy of “3″ has always proven to best the best strategy for me in the long haul. Maximize your pass line odds if the table starts rolling. Good luck in 2013. Great blog!
Never hit a royal either. Played around 20k hands on WinPoker, and probably more than that in casinos…closest I’ve ever seen is 3 cards to a Royal. In fact, until this past October, I’d never even hit a 4 of a kind in a casino! According to the trainer, I play JOB with 96.4% accuracy…I just don’t have the luck.
I think my gambling resolution for the year will be to actually try and understand craps. I’ve never made the effort. The few times I’ve played, honestly, I really had no idea what I was doing.
