I recently had some time to get away from work and have some fun. I contemplated a solo Vegas trip but then got an offer for the Ameristar in Back Hawk, CO that was pretty sweet. For those who don’t know, Black Hawk is a small town in the Colorado mountains that has several casinos. The offer came through the partnership between MGM’s MLife and Ameristar’s Star Rewards. The combination of a sweet hotel room offer and a friend’s availability to make the hour drive to Black Hawk swayed me to forego Vegas until October. I will start off with a set of photos of the room and discuss the trip in another post. Overall I would describe the room as above average, but I would gladly stay there again. Apologies for the imperfect pic,s but hey not that bad for being scotch drunk (as tends to happen with gambling).

Nice view from the room of the mountain side.

Two comfy beds. Nothing amazing but better than a Holiday Inn. The room was nice but lacked the pizzazz of a nice Vegas hotel room. It did have some features though that made it above average. I did not get a picture of the closet which had an automatic convenience light that came on when the door was open.

Standard room table and chairs. There was plenty of extra square footage in the room for activities.

TV and cabinet. Inside the cabinet there was an empty fridge, safe, and coffee maker. The empty fridge is nice to keep booze cold or store leftovers.
